Friendship, the good the bad and the awful (May 26, 2009) Throughout our lives people will come and go. We will meet some wonderful people who may only touch our lives for a fleeting moment, but they will leave a lasting effect upon us. There will be others that seem to appear just when you needed them and may only stay a short while. It is as they were only meant to join us for a little while to complete a journey with us. Then there are the true friends who will stay with us forever. We also have the ‘fair-weather friends, who really are not truly our friends but masquerade to be. These are the people who want something from us are always ready to receive rather than give. Yet as soon as something better comes along, such as a job promotion, we never hear from them or see them again. What do we do when we have friends like this? The ones that bring only pain and heartache into our lives? Firstly we look at how they have treated us and ask ourselves if we have ever behaved in a similar manner? If we have lets hope we use their example to mend our ways. If not, we vow never to behave in this manner.
We then forget them. Concentrate your energy only on those that truly matter. Cherish the people that love you for who you are, the true friends in your life. Take the time to stop and tell them how important they are to you. For all the others let them go, give them not a second thought.
